I want to share tips to earn fast with AdSense. Those tips are especially for beginners just starting.
What is important with adsense:
- Traffic (coming from search engines, ie. Google)
- Good ad placement (to have the best CTR you can)
- Target non technical audience (because they click more and they are more numerous than technical people)
- Target non time-related content.

How to achieve it:
- For traffic you need to produce content for the masses, that is, children, women, seniors, any non technical person on the internet
- For ad placement you need to put adsense ads on your site where you would want to have them located if they were your own ads and the site wasn't yours.
- To target non technical audience, don't talk about computers or internet. no flash games, no desktop wallpapers, no make money online, no forex, etc.
- Non-time related content means your content is searched for all year round.
Exemple of content for the masses:
- Take one of my latest sites: May Calendar ... it's actually 12 domain names in english and 36 in three other languages, but could have been done on one domain name only, I simply wanted to get all good domain names for myself :-)
- Look at the content: all I'm offering is a calendar for one month. I'm doing it by PHP coding, but you could do it by hand with photoshop and it would be exactly the same. Just more work because you would have to produce them, but you want to make money online, right?
- My audience is not technical, and my content can be used by anybody on the internet, technical or not.
Another example would be card to print for free. Like birthday cards, newborn cards, christmas cards. If your site is about printable cards, then it's non time-related, even if some cards are for christmas only, you can have lots of cards such as birthday and death, retirement, good wishes, heal soon, etc. All year round.
Now if you want to get an idea of the traffic you can generate with this method, you should expect several thousand unique visitors per day, take a look at my open stats tracker for my site on printable calendars: http://extremetracking.com/open;unique?login=worldcal
(EDIT: please note that since 14th may 2010 Google seems to have penalized those 48 domain names, that's why the stats are now low since I get traffic only from other search engines and backlinks. Google didn't send me an email to tell me what was wrong, so I suspect maybe having 12 domain names per language for a pretty similar content is the reason. But that doesn't make my tips any less valid, don't worry)
To give you an idea of the adsense earnings, take a safe scenario: CTR of 5%, CPC of $0.1, that's an eCPM of $5.
So if you have 1,000 ad impressions you will earn $5.
1 unique visitor is likely to visit several pages of your site, so 1,000 unique visitors means more than 1,000 ad impressions.
As for the time it take to get such a site off the ground, expect several weeks/months of light SEO such as posting links on other sites, social bookmarking and asking for link exchanges to other webmasters.
I hope these tips are useful to you, so that you don't waste your time by doing beginners mistakes of chasing high paying keywords and topics for other webmasters/bloggers/computer geeks.

Hello, I'm happy to read that but personally I feel there is a big problem with my bookmarking site. If you look at the open stats you will see that for months now, Google is limiting the traffic to a few thousand unique visitors per day. And that is not logical at all, because in the meantime there are at least a dozen new members every day and several dozens new content every day, so the traffic should have grown a lot more. But it is stable for months.
It's not good. Although a few thousand unique visitors is better than a few hundreds, I feel Google is not being fair to my site and its members right now.
Maybe the situation will improve in the future, but right now I'm puzzled as to why Google is doing that, the content is monitored so it is not for adults, or casino, blatant spam, etc. I don't quite get it. But let's see how it turns out.

Your article is a real eye opener for me James. I have written a series on all the bookmarking sites I used and the primary benefit from it was the referral. Though I don't know whether they would be active or not. I think I need to change my approach and start writing some articles on health and other things. Though I have a question for you. I am planning to write a series of hubs on how to blog. DO you think the subject has adsense potential. I mean I am confused. Hello, it's true that "how to create a blog" could be seen as a beginner question, but the truth is that in order to want to create a blog, it means you are way too high in my priority list. You know too much technically if you already want to create a blog by yourself.
I would rather do a series on "how to send an email" or "how to print an email" or "print a photo from my digital camera" and things like that. But even those kind of things are technical in nature, even if it is for people really starting in technical things :-)
So that could work, but how to create a blog, or people who look for graphic kits, or even desktop wallpapers. That's a bit too advanced :-)
But of course you can do your series on how to create a blog, and you'll get traffic and clicks, don't you worry about that. I was simply talking about how to maximize that potential in traffic and clicks (CTR) and I was in no way saying that it is the only way, it's not all or nothing.
If you really like to write about your idea, then do it, by all means! Producing content is also for fun, because we enjoy it, earning money on the internet should always be seen as a video game where the money and the traffic is our score in the game. If there is no fun in doing it, we might as well go back to working in a factory or in an office with managers and bosses. Personnally I quit working in a company and even freelance for clients a long time ago, and I'll do what it takes to never have to go back to that madness :-)
Anyway, yes target masses, with general questions that can be of interest to anyone or nearly everyone. That's why health is also a good topic because we all are subject to it from time to time and turn to the web to research our problems, before and even after seeing a doctor. But health topics are too competitive amongst webmasters to my taste, I prefer other niches.
Such as calendar or recurring occasions such as christmas, religious events, birthdays, etc. Because you can start a site now, create content 1 to 2 months in advance, to follow the year, and in one year you'll have a site full of content for the year to come, and you can simply continue producing content in advance, to complete, fill in, what you didn't have time to do last year.
There are also other kind of sites such as references, on "what does XYZ means?" or "how to open a XYZ file?" that you can create little by little and will be useful in the years to come, no outdated content.

I truly believe that is one of the best tips about writing articles to attract visitors I have read. I am not guilty of being too geeky but I am of loving writing about history and self help topics. I know a lot about computers as I am a qualified tutor. I just assume that most people know how to write an email, create a birthday card, create a personal calender etc. But after reading this I will put my history articles aside for a few weeks and concentrate on those type articles.
